purly natural, sourced from the pitch lake in trinidad and tobago. unpleasant smell, sticky texture and connection to heavy industry trigger immediate associations: synthetic, harmful, unnatural. but are these impressions accurate? no longer just a functional substance. it carries presence, history and agency.
